Building "true" community when teaching online courses is challenging. Use of an avitar to introduce students would serve much better than a still photo and a typed introduction. Therefore, in my WebCT online courses I plan to create an avitar and record my intro. (Being consciencious of special needs students, I will include a dialog of my intro.)
